I have been holding back out of fear (of upgrading wordpress of course) being sure that when I do all kinds of calamities will befall my blog. Today I took the plunge off the high cliff and voila it worked. My new found courage will surely take me to new heights, or… maybe not.
As it happens in life, you cannot expect everything to go as planned and of course it doesn’t. The day after buying time on the ship for internet (highway robbery by the way) the internet went down for over 24 hours. So now I play catchup. Had our first stop (Cabo). Definitely for Sun worshipers but not for me. We went on a coastal highlight tour to the old town of San Jose. It was a small sleepy town (the tour guide says it is a hideaway for Canadians). It was a rushed tour so you really didn’t get a chance to see the smaller details.
Our next stop is Zihuatanejo (Ixtapa), Mexico. Planning no tours at this stop but planning to get off and just walk around town.
Ship is nice, the new retreat area is the best kept secret on the boat. large screen for movies under the stars and a pizza bar.
Well at 75 cents a minute I am cutting it short. Hopefully it will be more regular after today.
Almost started off with a disaster. Forgot the cameras in the car, the carpark bus took us back to get them. Phew…. Arrived San Diego, flight was good, transfers quick. Long lineup to get into the boat but all in all San Diego does a good job of moving people. Now I begin to eat.
12 hours and counting. I was checking out the route to the airport. Google Maps is simply amazing.
We are parking our car and YVR park and fly. They have a great coupon deal. You can park for up to 27 days for the price of 8 days. Almost as cheap as a cab return.
Decisions, decisions. decisions. How many socks, how many shirts. sweater or no sweater. All these decisions and it seems I always manage to forget something. We shall see. 1 full day and then off to the airport. Our cat has a baby sitter and I am sure won’t even miss us as long as he is fed. (sounds like me).
Getting ready for a trip can be very stressful. Actually for me, I think I look for stress. A stressaholich. I think this H1N1 has created more stress for people than anything I can remember. the should I or shouldn’t I. Will I or won’t I is what creates the problems not necessarily the flu itself. Maybe I will be flying away from the flu?
Oct. 31, I will be flying to San Diego to start a 19 day cruise. I will try to log some of the trip on my blog. We travel up the west coast for 19 days going as far as Santiago Chile. It will be a glorious, R and R (Rest and Recovery). Today starts the planning and packing.
Life is not fair, or just, it just “is”. Nor are we given an opportunity to “undo” anything we might have reason to regret later, unlike the popular shows on tv presently such as “finding erica” and Living on Mars”. As a baby boomer I have enough years under my belt to present to others (that have been in my life a long time) an “identity”. Certainly my “identity” is a sum of my past parts accumulated, but one should not make the mistake of seeing me based on my past. Mistakes I have made aplenty but today I am who I am nothing less. My actions, asperations and relationships today are who I expect to be judged on (if I should be judged at all). I am not unhappy with that, I just wanted it to be clear, I don’t accept my past as the cover of my book, just one of the early chapters.
The buzz word is”upgrade”. I tried to upgrade wordpress to version 2.7 using a plugin (another new word of this era) and no go “they are trying to build a program that will work with servers like yours”. Oh well back to getting my hands dirty and doing it the old fashion way.
Today I watched the inauguration and it was amazing the amount of energy this man has generated. We are starved for “leaders”. He has a lot on his plate. Good luck to him
I did a spell check on this post and two words came up mispelled “WordPress” and “plugin”. interesting.
To all – A HAPPY NEW YEAR – The year of the rat is soon coming to an end and I am glad as I am a rat. Contrary to what I thought If you are an animal of the current year it is not necessarily your best year.
